- The Bowl is where the hollow is cut for the tobacco.
- The Shank is an extension of the bowl, smoke is drawn
through the shank to the stem.
- The Stem is the removable part of the pipe.
- The Tenon is the part that fits into the shank.
- The Bit is the end that is held between the teeth or
lips.
- The Pot is where the tobacco is placed.
- The Carbon layer or Cake starts to form after the first
few smokes.
- The Flue is the channel by which smoke passes from the
bowl, through the shank, to the end of the stem.
- The Filter or System these can range from metal filters
to carbon filters, these are used to regulate the smoke and trap
particles of tobacco.
